The Twelve Clothes of Christmas #9

The best bit of having a dog is getting out in the fresh air and countryside for walkies and the Christmas holidays are the perfect opportunity to do that. I have already taken Winston on a couple of group dog walks which are great for his socialisation. The first, on Boxing Day, was organised by Second Chance Rescue who brought along some of their rescue dogs too. I have also joined a local dog walking group Awsworth Zoomies and we went on a 2 hour walk through the Derbyshire countryside with 20 other people and around 30 dogs. On both occasions Winston enjoyed being off the lead and ran around happily with the other dogs but was a bit of a mud magnet and required a thorough bath when he got home. We are very much looking forward to our next Zoomies dog walk on New Year's Day.

So, what does one wear to keep warm, dry and reasonably stylish on a long, muddy dog walk??? A leopard print, faux fur coat and wellies over skinny jeans and a thick, cosy jumper.....

Second Chance Rescue are currently appealing for donations to support their work rescuing dogs from death row in Romania, if you can spare a pound or two to help they would be delighted to receive it. The donation button is on their website and check out their facebook page for more information on the good work they do with dogs from the UK and abroad - thank you
