Westfield Derby Student Lockdown

Last week I was invited to attend the annual Student Lockdown event at Westfield Derby. It is part of the Derby University fresher's week calendar and a much anticipated happening.

My outfit as I set off

As soon as I arrived I was immediately struck by the noise as I was escorted up onto the upper level where the evening event was taking place. Ministry of Sound had a huge DJ stand set up and were pumping out the tunes to entertain the shoppers.

In fact there was music blasting out from every corner giving a the whole shopping experience a great nightclub vibe.

The students were treated to shots, freebies and giveaways from lots of the stores as well as great discounts on purchases and most venues were doing a roaring trade. As downstairs was closed some of the lower level shops had brought their wares upstairs such as Asylum and Patisserie Valerie.

By Far the biggest queue of the night was for the Nando's stall who were running a 'spin to win' promotion.

I didn't go straight to uni myself and went in later life as an adult and parent so never got to experience freshers week for myself but I must say I wish I was a student today. Places like Westfield Derby really go out of their way to give students a great experience and show them what the area has to offer. Good luck to ALL students starting out on this new chapter in their lives, enjoy.......and let the good times roll!!!
