I think I'm calling her Doris!!!

Today was an exciting day here at Retro Lovely Towers, I finally took possession of my beautiful Pashley Britannia vintage bicycle. I have lusted after this bike for AGES but never thought I would ever be able to afford one until my workplace signed up for the Cycle to Work Scheme recently. Employees can choose from lots of local bike retailers and once their chosen bike is approved payments are taken directly from your wages over a year which is financially much more manageable for me.

I chose Evans Cycles in Nottingham as I knew they were a local Pashley stockist and the staff were super friendly and helpful. I also ordered a special rear basket and rack for it directly from Pashley and I'm hoping to find a way of securing Winston in it on long bike rides. I love all the attention to detail such as the leather seat and handles, wicker front basket and bell to ding!!!

I haven't ridden it yet, I'm a bit scared tbh as it's almost 30 years since I last rode a bike but hoping to have a little go later this evening or early tomorrow morning. I can't wait to get out on lots of adventures on Doris including this event in Nottingham although I now need to investigate into cycle carriers for my car!!!

  2. That's beautiful! I've been lusting after a bike like this lately. I'd be able to whizz to the train station in no time and in style!

    1. Thank you my love.....I'm not very fast on it yet, rather a nervous cyclist but I'm sure that will change with practice!!! Maybe worth checking if your employer is signed up for the cycle to work scheme - I know lots of local authorities are xxx
