A Day at Bluebell Dairy

I'm always looking for things that are cheap as chips to do with the children during the holidays. Today we decided to check out Bluebell Dairy, and not just for their wonderful artisan ice-cream!!! Bluebell Dairy is a sweet little place, really easy to find just outside Spondon in Derbyshire. They have a lovely tea rooms, farm shop, children's playground and small farm area.

For 2-12 year olds to visit the farm it cost a bargainous £1.50 and they got a free bag of animal feed to share with the cute animals. The farm area is small but cute with a few goats, sheep, Peppa the pig, Miss Molly the pony, cows, chickens, rabbits and turkeys. My personal favourite was Twinkle the donkey who was a real cutie.

When we ran out of animal feed it was ice-cream time!!! Bluebell Dairy makes its own artisan ice-cream in a wonderful array of flavours. After much deliberation I chose a scoop of raspberry pavlova ice-cream whilst the kids both chose Devilishly Chocolate - both were very moreish indeed!!!

Afterwards it was time for a quick play on the swings before heading home. Although it is probably best suited to younger children my two still enjoyed it and we can't wait to go back again and try different flavours of ice-cream. I also plan to bring my mum for tea and cakes sometime soon too. Opening times vary according to the season so its best to check out the website before heading off.

I also checked in advance and discovered that dogs were allowed so we took Winston along too.
