A new flame

Last Friday I took the kids and headed off into Derby after work to see the Olympic Torch. There was a big event on the Market Place that was chokka so we joined others lining the route down a side street for when the torch made its departing journey. We did have a really good spot and patiently waited for over half an hour, the weather was lovely and the atmosphere fun so we didn't mind too much.

Before the actual flame goes by there was a procession of cars, floats and performers such as a bmx stunt rider all linked to the sponsors of the Olympics. I'm glad we made the effort to go down and watch it, a real 'once in a lifetime' opportunity.

I'd come straight from work so look rather rough but wanted to wear my London 2012 t.shirt that I had been given for being one of the staff ambassadors at school.

The kids waited patiently waving their flags - Stella is also an Olympic ambassador at her school.

There she goes.....the flame goes past.
